The North Shore Exchange is the philanthropic arm of our club. The shop takes over 10,000 volunteer hours a year to run so there is no such thing as too many volunteers given the growth of the store. NSE has met many milestones— increasing sales every year and the many grants they are able to give as a result. Contact Missy at email@example.com, call 847-835-0026 or just stop over and check it out. You may also choose to donate or consign clothes and/or household items.
Women’s lives have changed dramatically since 1872 when the Women’s Library Club of Glencoe was founded to promote intellectual and social improvement in the community. Nearly 150 years later, we are continually inspired by the legacy of our founders and the WLC of Glencoe remains dedicated to their mission. We share their commitment to philanthropy through volunteer service, to empowering each other through collaboration and networking, and to sharing the joy of life in our community through friendship and fun.
As a philanthropic organization, the WLC supports in-need organizations through volunteer service time, fund raising and financial donations. The philanthropic arm of our club is the North Shore Exchange, a non-profit luxury fashion and home furnishings consignment store. WLC members volunteer their time to staff the NSE in its Glencoe and North Michigan Avenue locations. NSE sales have exceeded annual projections every year since it opened it 2013, presenting WLC members with many volunteer and leadership opportunities.
WLC members enjoy monthly luncheons with speakers that range from educational to entertaining. Members also gather around shared social interests. Whether your interest is bridge or power walking, mahjong or movie night, you will find enthusiastic companions ready to start up a social group.
The WLC embraces diverse interests and ideas and welcomes every woman who shares our commitment to community development on the North Shore and Chicago area. Club meetings and many of our social events are held in WLC of Glencoe headquarters located at the Writer’s Theatre. There are numerous leadership and networking opportunities for WLC members within the club and in the community. We invite you to join us by applying for membership today.
WLC of Glencoe is no longer affiliated with the Glencoe Public Library, which is funded and operated by the Village of Glencoe.
