Random Readers:

Random Readers is a book group that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, year round, at WT Patrons Lounge at 10:30 am to discuss fiction books selected by the group.

May15th will be led by Linda Illes. The Lake on Fire is an epic narrative that begins among 19th century Jewish immigrants on a failing Wisconsin farm. Lured by the potential for new life, Chaya and her brilliant younger brother Asher flee to industrialized Chicago. Surrounded by the superficial extravagance of the Columbian Exposition, the pair depends on factory work and pickpocketing to scrape by. The Lake on Fire is a keen examination of social class, family, love, and revolution in a historical time marked by a tumultuous social landscape.
In case you are interested,
the author, Rosellen Brown, will discuss The Lake on Fire on Sunday, May 5, at 2 pm at the Wilmette Junior High School auditorium, 620 Locust Road, Wilmette.

If any of our members are wondering what our group is like, you are most welcome to just drop by and listen to the discussion, whether or not you have read the book. Feel free to contact Roberta if you have any questions.
