Active


The Active group is for members interested in getting some fresh air and exercise. Activities include running groups, walking groups, bowling, biking... You name it!


Communications


This group manages all forms of WLC communication – the newsletter, the website and club public relations. Our website is wlcGlencoe.com and our email address is wlcGlencoe@gmail.com. The club’s mailing address is 321 Park Ave, Glencoe, IL 60022. The club’s headquarters in located at 325 Tudor Ave, Glencoe, IL.


Field Trips


WLC field trips include trips to local museums, art galleries, and theaters, as well as special interest events in the area.


Knit, Chit Chat & Chill


This informal group meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month in the WT patron’s lounge to knit, needlepoint, croquet, make crafts and just to enjoy each other's company. No RSVP required and no experience necessary.


Movies

 

This new group gathers at local theaters to see first run movies with educational discussions following each movie.


Telephone / Sunshine


The purpose of this committee is to make sure our members without email know about all upcoming WLC events. In addition, the group identifies members who may need a little cheering up or some extra help and notifies the club of illness and deaths of members and their families.


Book Clubs


Random Readers
A book group that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (year round) at WT at 11am to discuss fiction books selected by the group at their December meeting.

Evening Book Group
A book group that meets six times a year in the evenings to discuss __________ books.

Locations and dates will vary.


Dining Out


The Dining Out group meets once a month from October through May in the evening at restaurants in the area to sample new and interesting cuisine with fellow club members.


Membership


The membership group runs several membership drive events throughout the year and follows up with women interested in learning about the club. This group also creates the membership directory.


Social / Education


This group plans monthly educational luncheons for the club, as well as special events throughout the year. This group also develops new programming each year.


Canasta 


The Canasta committee meets to play Canasta every Thursday from 1:00-3:00pm. Playing Canasta with other WLC members is a great way to spend time with other women in the club. 

Bridge


WLC party bridge - The year is broken into two sessions, a Fall/Winter/Spring (Winter bridge) session and a summer session has two bridge groups. Cost: $5 per year per person (payable by September 2018) plus $1 per person per event. The group usually has a bridge luncheon in May of each year. New ideas in the works are duplicate bridge games, bridge lessons and a bridge club championship.

2018 Summer Bridge
This group will meet on the 2 nd and 4th Wednesday in June, July and August. The format is rubber bridge scoring, 4 rounds per event and 4 hands per round. People of all skill levels are welcome. If you don’t have a partner or can’t commit to every time, the group would love to have you sign up on the sub list.

Fundraising


WLC’s fundraising efforts include annual contributions from members, raffles, special events and an annual bridge benefit.


Mahjong / Other Game


The Maj group meets every ____________. In addition, this group plans to introduce other games throughout the year. No experience required.


Northshore Exchange (NSE)


The WLC provides all of the volunteers necessary to run the North Shore Exchange, our sister organization, opened in 2013 and located at 372 Hazel Ave, Glencoe, IL. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00a to 5:30p. The NSE website is www.northshoreexchange.org. Jobs include staffing the shop and behind the scenes work on the NSE’s website pricing, consignments and sales floor. The phone number for the shop is 847-835-0026. Proceeds from the shop are donated to non for profit organizations focusing on women, children and families at or below the poverty line.
